A Hut on Mechanical Legs Invented in Denmark

Flying carpets have already received their modern realization. Now the Danish architects have designed a technological interpretation of another fairy-tale attribute - the hut on mechanical legs. Walking houses shall soon be constructed according to the new project.

The project of houses that shall move on their six mechanical lower limbs has been designed by a non-profitable art group under the name "N55". The goal of their new invention is to artificially change the sphere of habitation of people who are forced to permanently live in the same place.

The group's architects and designers themselves - they are four in number - live together in a small one-room apartment in the centre of Copenhagen. This apartment also serves as their working office.

"The walking house" weights 1 ton and has only one room which is 2.3 m high, 2.4 m wide and 8 m long. According to the project authors, such modest dwelling space can accommodate four people.

The house shall move with the help of 12 engines that shall allow it to stretch its "feet" to rise higher and even step over the obstacles. The speed of such a house shall be rather modest - no more than 5 km/h. However, it shall be able to move both within and beyond the city without any harm to nature and environment.

The use of such a method of transportation absolutely excludes harmful emissions in the atmosphere. The appliances of the house shall be fed from natural sources: solar batteries and wind turbines. Inside the house shall have all the necessary conveniences: a toilet and even a firewood oven.

Not only Europe is famous for it's unusual events and inventions, recently they have opened a Museum of Laziness in Colombia that was intended to target visitor's attention to the moments of hard labor and rest in our life.
